Igniting a passion for reading
All children should have access to books. Our literacy based programs are designed to put books in the hands of youth and their families. We are here to ignite a passion for reading by ensuring children have access to books at school, home and in the community. We work hard to provide children and youth with high interest books so reading is enjoyable! It is also our goal to support parents by creating a culture of reading.
Books in the Park (Summer)
Books in the Park, a summer program that provides youth (all ages welcome) an opportunity to receive a free book, themed read-aloud, hands on activity, and snack while at the park. In the summer we offer six interactive sessions where youth can meet up in a safe environment to immerse themselves in the joy of reading. Last year we donated 106 books, serving 80 youth.
Reading Culture in the Community
Reading Culture in the Community, a year round program that uses literacy as a platform for youth to express themselves. We offer several community events throughout the year:
Poetry Writing Contests, opportunity to showcase your talent
Open Mic Poetry Night, express yourself through poetry
Birthday Books, a free book delivered on your birthday
Community Book Nooks
Community Book Corner, we pride ourselves in being able to build our community through book nooks in corners. Our goal is to expand book access by creating book nooks in the community. A book nook is a small library that can be placed in a community center or small business. You provide the small space, and we provide the books.
